For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? ~Mark 8:36
What are you holding onto that is so important that you would trade the splendors of heaven -- an eternal life where you will never feel pain or sorrow again -- you will never have to see your loved ones suffer -- you will never have to say goodbye -- you will never have to worry again because you will be happy forevermore -- you will be living a life that fulfills the exact purpose that God created you for -- and you will have a King for a Father who will ALWAYS take care of ALL of your needs.
What "FOOL" would trade all that for something that is temporary and the pleasure is felt for but a pin-drop of time compared to eternity AND does not even fully satisfy? Put drugs, alcohol, fornication, homosexuality, adultery, pornography, filthy talking, blasphemy, hatred, the love of money and "things", living how you please, and even the need to be in control on one side of the balance and place God and His benefits in the other. My friend, if you choose the former you will be found wanting. There is NO comparison.
Now, you don't come to Christ to receive His benefits, you come to Him because you need a Savior -- you are lost and without hope -- a slave to sin and sin's master. But, Christ paid your sin debt and has offered the free gift of salvation to all. He has pardoned you from your crime, but a gift must be accepted and a pardon must be taken or it is of no value to the recipient.
When we realize our sad state and accept this precious gift our hearts turn away from who we once were and turn toward God and His will and plan for our lives. No longer do we live unto ourselves, but we live unto the One who suffered and died in our place.
Then come the benefits, but now we are changed, and the benefits pale in comparison to the One who provides them. Our eyes are opened and we realize that HE is our exceeding great reward (Genesis 15:1)! "Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?" (Exodus 15:11)

Oh, don't miss out, dear one. You have heaven to gain! Eternity's a long time to realize what you forfeited. Now, is the accepted time for salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2). Your tomorrow may never come!
Believe in Christ (Acts 16:31), Receive His gift (Eph. 2:8-9), and Repent - turn from your sins and turn to God (Luke 13:3)!
