Far Above Rubies

"It is heartbreakingly ironic to me that as Beyonce sings about "independent women" and being powerful women who respect themselves, she is "visually" communicating that the best way to be valued and get power in this world as a female is to wear lingerie while thrusting your body. Also, how can we expect the average guy in this world to wait until he has "put a ring on it" while we are acting in the way she is modeling? I'm no Beyonce hater, but I do hate the broken message she (and our media) constantly berates us with."

~Janie Thomas, a college student (concerning the Superbowl half-time show)

Yes, I know that is "just the way Beyonce is", as another lady stated that others may say....I agree with her when she also said, "But, we need to raise the bar and not accept this as the new normal!"

I say, "Heaven help us if we don't, as Christian parents, teach our daughters that their worth is not in what the world chooses to be worthy, but what God looks upon as pleasing in His sight. Beauty, as the world sees it, will fade...then what will she have to feel worthy about?

If she finds her worth in Christ she will NEVER feel rejected or worthless because she will be a rare gem indeed...priceless in the eyes of her Lord...and this will follow her into eternity."

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. ~Proverbs 31:10

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. ~Proverbs 31:30-31
