Ray Comfort's Plea to Atheists

Michael Jackson is dead! Do you remember how shocked you were when you heard that? Today thousands will die, but you will only hear about a handful. You may be shocked to hear that a well-known rock musician has OD’d or committed suicide. A celebrity may be shot or shoot someone, or be killed in a car accident or in a plane crash. But in reality, 150,000 human beings, people just like you and I will die today. We console our fears of being in that 150,000 by thinking that death is something that happens to other people. But each of us truly walks on the eggshells of eternity. Life is extremely fragile and today could be our day. These sobering thoughts aren’t some sort of scare tactic. They are reality.
Many hide from facing reality because death so scares them. You can spot them because they are the ones who are quick to say that they aren’t scared of dying, or that death is the end. Somehow, they have the inside story on what happens after death. However, there is an afterlife whether we believe it or not, and God will have His Day of Justice whether we believe it or not.
Ultimate justice is reasonable in the light of our own intuitive knowledge of right and wrong. Hell is God’s prison for men like Hitler, and for other murderers, rapists, thieves and liars. God means what He says about punishing evil, and He means what He says about forgiving sinners like you and me. So, if you are at all interested in everlasting life, please set aside the argument about evolution and atheism, and your indignation about hypocrisy in Christianity, and seek the God who gave you your precious life…that is, if you would like to keep it. If you really believe in “survival of the fittest”, then let Him make you fit to survive.
